My husband and I were informed last year (from mother of grandson) that she was 6 months pregnant from our son. We spoke with her and her mother, and informed them that we would want to have DNA testing done to ensure it is his child, and if it was his, my husband and I would adopt the child, since our son is only 17 years old. A few weeks after our meeting, the mother of the baby sent a letter from an attorney saying that she wanted to put the baby up for adoption, and if my son did not sign the paperwork and tried to get custody of the baby, she would keep it herself and he would have to pay medical costs, etc. At this point, my son has taken a DNA test, and he is the father of the baby. Therefore, we are now need to know where we go from here? We have signed paperwork with the county attorney, but we are not sure of our rights? Could you please let us know what are some of our options? We have heard that the adoption could possibly go through even though my son wants his child. Is this true?
